Lochana L. Perera is an Australian analytical chemist and entrepreneur with more than three years of experience in analytical chemistry, food safety testing, and quality control. He has developed and operated advanced analytical methods using HPLC, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, with experience across ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025:2017, AOAC standards, Codex guidelines, and regulatory compliance. His scientific work has included food product analysis, PAH quantification in smoked fish, pharmaceutical feasibility research, and analytical characterisation for fertiliser development.
Previously, he served as a Food Technologist at the Industrial Technology Institute in Colombo, where he conducted quality control testing for more than 50 food products annually, managed multiple concurrent analytical projects, and contributed to method development that improved detection limits and reduced analysis time. He also worked as a Research Scientist at the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology, where he contributed to multidisciplinary research across analytical chemistry, food science, and nanotechnology, while supervising and mentoring research interns.
Mr. Perera is also the Founder and Managing Director of Domestica Hobart, a short-term accommodation management business in Tasmania. Since 2018, he has built and scaled the company, developing operational systems and quality assurance protocols while applying analytical problem-solving and project management skills to business operations.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Analytical Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Food Science & Technology from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura.
